I wrote this article as a seminary student in 1967 while working as a community organizer in Chicago. At that time only men were ministers (mostly) and African Americans were “Negroes.” Please forgive the lack of political correctness by today’s standards. I was doing my best with what I knew at the time. If we only knew then what we know now, how different our past would be.
